In the early days (1950’s and 60’s), spot painting was unheard of. Back then auto painting referred to complete paint jobs where you painted the entire car. Back then paints were lacquers or synthetic enamels. These paints dried quickly and looked very shiny but they faded quickly and were not very durable.
